Q: What is Origins?
A: Origins is a community building app designed to bring people together anywhere in the world. It is a place to find connections with others who share a similar story, whether that be their cultural or ethnic background and/or their city of residence.
Q: What is the difference between Origins Free and Origins Premium?
A: With Origins Free, you’ll be able to see users anywhere in the world, and message others within a 250 mile radius of your current geographic location. With Origins Premium, you can message anyone in the world (not limited to distance) as well as save your favorite profiles for later.
Q: What does the heart icon do? Why can’t I use it on my free account?
A: The heart icon allows you to save a favorite profile for later. When you heart a profile, they will be removed from your home page and show up in your “My Saved Profiles” page. Users are not notified when their profile has been saved for later. To use the heart icon, you’ll need to upgrade to an Origins Premium account.
Q: What is the difference between my Place of Origin and my City of Residence?
A: Your City of Residence is where you currently live or anywhere you call home. Your City of Residence will not change when you travel somewhere new. Your Place of Origin is anywhere in the world you are connected to either from your heritage (where your family comes from) or your culture. Your Place of Origin can also be the same as your City of Residence if you are not tied to a particular heritage or culture.
Q: My family comes from a certain country, but I don’t know what city. What should I do?
A: You’ll need to enter a specific city; the app does not allow you to input a country for Place of Origin. For example: enter Taipei, Taiwan vs. Taiwan, or Dublin, Ireland vs. Ireland. Our suggestion is to choose a capital or main city within that country. You’ll still be able to see other users whose Place of Origin is in the same country as you.
Q: I come from a diverse background. How many places can I enter for my Place of Origin?
A: At this time, you may enter up to two Places of Origin.
Q: What is a Top Match?
A: A top match is someone who has both the same Place of Origin and City of Residence as you. Top matches will appear with a blue glow around their profile picture in your home screen.
Q: How can I stay safe on this app?
A: We take safety very seriously. We have a team of moderators who constantly monitor the platform for any harmful content. We also have a reporting system that allows you to report any content that you believe is inappropriate.
Q: How do I report abusive behavior/content?
A: To report a user, please click the "Report User" icon found at the bottom right of their profile page.
Q: How do I report a bug?

Q: I received a warning about inappropriate content being removed from my profile, why?
A: Origins has a team that is dedicated to reviewing content that is posted. When objectionable content is discovered, it is removed and the offending member receives a message letting them know why that content was removed.
Q: How do I cancel my Origins Premium subscription?
A: For iPhones and iPads, go to Settings > Apple ID (where your name is at the top) > Subscriptions. There you'll see a list of current subscriptions and their next billing or expiration dates. Tap on a subscription to cancel your subscription. For Android users, open the Google Play app, then select your profile photo, and then Payments and subscriptions > Subscriptions. Select the subscription you want to cancel and then select "Cancel subscription." Alternatively, you may email info@origins-app.com with the email address used to access your account to cancel your Origins Premium subscription.
Q: Can I get a refund for Origins Premium?
A: No refunds are available for subscriptions to Origins Premium. You may cancel your subscription at any time and you will not be charged in the next billing cycle. If you have any questions about our refund policy, please contact us at info@origins-app.com.
Q: What are the plans for future development of Origins?
A: We are constantly working to improve this app and user experiences. We have plans to add new features and improve the existing features, as well as make the app available in more languages.
